NZ terror attack: Hindu community to celebrate Holi in a simple manner

KARACHI: The Hindu community on Monday announced to celebrate Holi festival in a simple manner due to Friday’s attack at Mosques in New Zealand, resulting in death of at least 50.

“The decision has been taken to show solidarity with the bereaved families of the Christchurch attack”, President Hindu Pancait said.

The community has also suspended a yearly celebrated Holi festival at the Sindh Assembly building.

Pakistan’s flag is flying at half-staff today in solidarity with the victims of terrorist attacks on two mosques in New Zealand.

The government took this decision to express solidarity with the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the gruesome terror incident in Christchurch, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior.

While addressing a presser on Sunday, Foreign Minister Qureshi had said casualties of Pakistanis stand at nine in the attack, while an injured was undergoing treatment at ICU.  He said fifty people were martyred in this tragic incident.

Qureshi said, the prime minister had also decided that martyred Mian Naeem Rashid will be given national award on 23rd of March this year for his heroic struggle against the white supremacist terrorist during the attack.

The attacks on two mosques by a right-wing terrorist left 50 people dead and bullet injuries to several others on Friday.
