‘Every country focus on Regional cricket’ Imran Khan hits back at Miandad

The Prime Minister of Pakistan and former Test captain Imran Khan criticized his ex-team member Javed Miandad for opposing the decision to dissolve departmental cricket.

“Regional cricket is played all over the world and people here are criticizing it,” said Khan while talking to the media.

The 1992 World Cup winning captain said that Miandad has his own thinking over departmental cricket. “We need quality and not quantity. Miandad has his own thinking,” he stated.

It is pertinent to mention here that Khan asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to frame a domestic structure based on just regions which created hype among cricket fraternity.

Two renowned departments HBL and UBL dissolved their cricket teams and plenty of players lost their jobs.

Miandad was among those former cricketers who voiced against dissolving departmental cricket. “Finishing departmental cricket means employing plenty of players” he had said.
