Revenge hungry Pakistan eyeing a winning start to ODI series

Having lost the only T20I by seven wickets, the men in green are hungry to take revenge from England when they take on the home side in the first ODI on May 8 at The Oval.

With a match-winning performance, England’s skipper has a mental edge over Pakistan but the green shirts are unpredictable on their day and especially in English conditions.

The left-hander Morgan played a match-winning 57 runs knock to show his dominance on the day. Joe Root supported him well by scoring 47 runs.

Pakistan played with a young bowling attack with only Hasan Ali having played more than 30 matches. Lack of experience with the bowl was one of the prominent reason behind their loss.

Now Pakistan needs to play with their full strength as they have weapons like Mohammad Amir and Junaid Khan who can be lethal on such wickets.

Amir’s grip on the new ball can take some early wickets for Pakistan while Junaid can provide variation to outclass the hosts. Amir’s Champions Trophy performance shows his strength in such conditions.

Shaheen Shah Afridi will be potent with Amir as he is used to of bringing early breakthroughs. Hasan Ali and Mohammad Husnain are the other two good options for Pakistan to go with, in middle overs.

Skipper Sarfraz hopes that his bowlers are in good shape and will deliver strongly in the five-match ODI series.

“I think they bowled quite well but credit goes to Morgan for playing outstandingly,” he said.

In batting, Pakistan looks quite strong with their opening pair of Fakhar Zaman ad Imam-ul-Haq who both can carry the inning strongly for Pakistan.

Fakhar is known for his power-hitting and making the most of powerplay while Imam-ul-Haq’s ability to rotate the strike keeps ticking the scoreboard.

Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, and Mohammad Hafeez will hold the middle-order batting and the trio is capable of handling pressure in middle overs.

Asif Ali and Imad Wasim can hit the ball hard and will be lethal in the death overs to strengthen the total of the team. Sarfraz if promotes himself up to the order then he can also play some worthy inning for his team.
