KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit a progress report about a probe into the issuance of a fake call-up letter to a citizen.
A two-judge bench of the high court directed the bureau to submit a report by May 12 and issued a notice to the NAB prosecutor general.
Over the course of the hearing, the bench asked a NAB lawyer what action was taken against the person responsible for issuing the fake call-up notice to the petitioner.
At this, the lawyer demanded more time to take necessary action over the issuance of the fake call-up notice.
Petitioner Shamshad Ali had submitted that he was asked through a NAB call-up notice to settle a land matter.

At the previous hearing, director general NAB had filed a report stating that an inquiry into the issuance of fake call-up letter was carried out, which led to the conclusion that the letter was bogus.
The judges expressed dissatisfaction over the report observing NAB investigators did not come prepared to assist the court in NAB related matters.
They directed the NAB chairman to look into the fake call-up notice matter and furnish a compliance report.
